Beta-Pinene exhibits cytotoxic activity against cancer cells. In a 2014 study on the 'Anticancer activity of essential oils and their chemical components,' it was demonstrated that the essential oil of Schefflera heptaphylla (L.) Frodin, along with its major compound beta-pinene ((-)-beta-pinene and (+)-beta-pinene), displayed notable anti-proliferative effects on A375 cancer cell lines. This activity was observed to hinder the growth of cancer cells associated with skin cancer.
